OBITUARY - CLEO E. STUART.

Cleo E. STUART was born February 12, 1898, near Hickory Grove church in Ringgold county, Iowa, and was the eldest son of Floyd A. and Evelena STUART.

He died in St. Mary's hospital in Kansas City May 13, 1928, aged 30 years, three months and one day.

On December 25, 1917, he was married to Zola THURMAN and to them was born three children, two boys, Russell, Floyd (sic) and Raymond, and one daughter, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death besides his wife and little boys his father, F. A. STUART, two sisters, Mrs. Ferne KNIGHT of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Lois COLE of Kansas City, Kan., one brother, Merle STUART of Redding, Iowa, an aged grandmother, Mrs. Rachel STUART, two aunts, Mrs. Dave PARR and Mrs. E. N. WILSON, and his uncle, H. F. STUART, all of Mount Ayr; also his step-mother, Mrs. F. A. STUART.

Cleo had always lived in the neighborhood where he was born until four years ago when he moved to Kansas City, Kan. He found employment with Frisco Railroad Co. soon after he went there and had worked steadily for them till he was stricken with pneumonia about one week before his death.

The men with whom he worked held him in very high esteem as did his foreman, Mr. HUTTON, who came with the funeral party to help in every way possible. He spoke in highest terms of Cleo's work and the kindness to men with whom he worked.

He was converted when about 16 years of age and united with the Hickory Grove church where he held his membership till he moved to Kansas City, then he with his wife transferred their memberships to the A. C. church only two blocks from their beautiful happy home. Cleo was a kind, loving husband and father, a dutiful son and brother.

His friends were numbered by his acquaintances.

The funeral was held at Hickory Grove on Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m., conducted by Elder A. P. FERRELL, pastor of the church in Kansas City, assisted by Elder TOMLINSON, the local pastor. He was laid to rest in Hickory Grove cemetery, there to await the call of Him "who doeth all things well."

Dearest Cleo, in your going,
You have left a vacant chair;
You have left a place no one can fill,
You have left our hearts so sad and lonely,
You have left against our will.

NOTE: Evalena (?) STUART, Cleo's mother, was born February 8, 1877, and died May 26, 1914. Floyd A. STUART, Cleo's father, was born August 12, 1871, and died July 12, 1951. Rachel Ann (?) STUART, Cleo's step-mother, was born in 1850, and died in 1929. They were interred at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Also interred at Hickory Grove Cemetery is Cleo's infant brother, born June 10, 1900, and died June 11, 1900; and his sister Ferne (STUART) KNIGHT, born 1894, and died in 1962.
Cleo's uncle Homer Franklin (H. F.) STUART (1881-1928) was interred at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
