JOHN CLAYTON STERLING

John Clayton STERLING, son of Ivan “Ike” & Dorothy (SEVIER) STERLING, was born August 26, 1961 at Corning, Iowa. John attended high school in Mount Ayr.

On February 26, 1980, John married Patti E. PAGE in Maryville, MO. To this union, two children were born. John and Patti divorced after 22 years of marriage.

John worked several years for the City of Tingley and for Frank RICHARDS on the farm. John was the assistant fire chief for several years. He loved being on the fire department. He was active in the fund raising efforts for the Tingley Fire Dept. John loved being outdoors and loved sports; baseball, softball and other games with kids. John attended the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert STERLING.

Survivors include his children Crystal STERLING and significant other Jesse COZAD of Creston and Jeff STERLING, all of Creston; 2 grandchildren Keegan STERLING and Jersey COZAD of Creston; special friend Vicki HARRISON of Sioux City; two brothers Doug STERLING & wife Debbie of Tingley and Dennis STERLING & wife Elizabeth of Killeen, Texas; three sisters Nancy ROLFE & husband Pat of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patty HAINLINE & husband Fred of Bloomfield, IA, and Helen LITSCHER & husband Ron of Hoopa, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
