OBITUARY - DOROTHY (SEVIER) STERLING

Dorothy STERLING, 84, of Tingley died November 9, 2004, at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 13, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. The Rev. Clark FINEHOUT of the First United Methodist Church in Creston will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Creston. Open visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in her name or directed to Hospice of Central Iowa in Mount Ayr.

Mrs. STERLING, daughter of Martha Henrietta (SHONEFELT) and Harold Irvin SEVIER, was born July 15, 1920, in Creston. On January 25, 1942, she married Marling Ivan STERLING in Maryville, Mo. She was a homemaker and lived in Creston for more than 30 years. She also lived at Sun Valley Lake from 1974-1984, Lenox from 1984-1997 and moved to Tingley in the summer of 1997. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston, Cozy Campers and Good Sam Camping Club.

Survivors include six children, Helen (husband Ron) LITCHER of Hoopa, Calif., Patty (husband Fred) HAINLINE of Bloomfield, Doug (wife Deb) STERLING of Tingley, Dennis (wife Liz) STERLING of Harker Heights, Texas, Nancy (husband Pat) ROLFE of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John STERLING of Sioux City; a brother, Larry (wife Shirley) SEVIER of Macksburg; two sisters, Ruby ENGLAND of Gladstone, Mo., and Betty PAGE of Creston; a sister-in-law, Wilma SEVIER of Kent; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in September 1996; a son, Robert STERLING; a brother, Jim SEVIER; a sister, Hazel PARSONS; and three brothers-in-law, Bill ENGLAND, Bill PAGE and Charlie PARSONS.
