OBITUARY - AZARIAH STEPHENS.

Azariah STEPHENS, son of Allan and Martha STEPHENS, was born near Garard Fort, Pennsylvania, December 17, 1864, and died Friday, June 9, 1933, at his home in Delphos, Iowa, at the age of 68 years, five months and 22 days.

In 1881 he left Pennsylvania, spending two years in Ohio, and from there coming to Delphos, Iowa. On February 22, 1906, he was united in marriage with Orah HARVEY of Clearfield, Iowa, and the home was established on a farm northwest of Delphos.

While a boy he united with the Baptist church at Garard Fort, and later transferred his membership to the Delphos Baptist church were he remained a loyal and active member until his death. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand to any one who needed him. He was always present in the Sunday school, and in his last hours expressed his faith and trust in God, telling the loved one at his bedside that he was ready to go. He will be missed by all in the community.

Mr. STEPHENS was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for several years, holding membership in the organization at Mount Ayr, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Linn; two brothers, Thomas B. of Dunkard, Penn., and W. L. of Parkersburg, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara COMPSTON and Mrs. Elizabeth McCLURE, both of Davistown, Penn., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at 10 o'clock at the Baptist church in Delphos, being conducted by Rev. Jesse V. WRIGHT of Farmington, Iowa, assisted by Rev. Lester O. HOOKS, pastor of the Mount Ayr Baptist church, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mount Ayr.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Elizabeth McCLURE of Davistown, Pa., her son Wildie McCLURE and wife and daughter Thelma of Waynesburg, Pa., W. L. STEPHENS and son Lot of Parkersburg, W. Va.
