OBITUARY - HAZEL "JUANITA" (STERNER) STAATS

Hazel "Juanita" STATTS was born November 14, 1914 to Melinda Rosetta (BEZONI) and William Orval STERNER on a farm in Charitan County, Mo.. She was educated in Marceline, Mo.. Juanita married George STAATS on April 30, 1932 in Marceline, Mo.. They traveled with road construction crews until 1943 when they moved to Redding, Ia. and started farming. They lived in Ringgold County until George retired. Juanita moved to Creston in 1982 after George passed away. Juanita was an active member in the Crest Baptist Church and the Spelling Club of Creston. She was formerly an active member with Rebecca Lodge in Benton.

Juanita is survived by two sons; Bob (wife Betty) STAATS of Creston and Fred (wife Alva) of Loveland, Co.; three daughters; Doris (husband Jerry) SMITH of Green Valley, Ariz., Linda (husband Sam) PARISE of San Diego, Calif. and Mary (husband James) EXLEY of Humeston, Iowa; one brother, Gerald (wife Anne) STERNER of Ankeny, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; husband George, son William “Bill” STAATS, daughter Margaret WILLIAMS, one brother Delbert STERNER and one grandson George STAATS.
