OBITUARY - MRS. ORIN G. SPENCER.

Julia Belle BAIRD was born January 26, 1867 on a farm near Redding Iowa, and grew to womanhood there. She and her husband Orin Gilbert SPENCER farmed in Middle Fork Township until moving to Mount Ayr in 1919. After Orin's death, she made her home with daughters Goldia [Mrs. Roy SHEUMAKER] and Letha [Mrs. Everett GALLOWAY] in Mount Ayr. At about 30 years of age, she lost her hearing and spent the balance of her life in a silent world, learning to read lips, and patiently getting by admirably. She accepted Christ as Saviour at an early age, and was a member of the Mount Ayr Methodist church at her passing on April 11, 1953 at the home of her daughter Goldia SHEUMAKER.

Her funeral services were held April 14 at the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor George C. PENNINGTON of the Methodist church, and she is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt Ayr, Iowa.
