OBITUARY.

Died, at her home in Mt. Ayr, on the 1st of March, 1887, Mrs. R. H. SPENCE [Mary E. (HAVILAND) SPENCE], in the 33rd year of her age.

Mrs. SPENCE was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Her parents moved to Ringgold county when she was an infant. She was married to Mr. R. H. SPENCE 14 years ago. The family have been living in Mt. Ayr for the last 12 years.

She made a profession of religion when quite young, and united with the Methodist church, but at the time of her death was not connected with any church, but she lived a consistent Christian life. She was a quiet, respectable woman, and much esteemed by her friends and neighbors.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and neighbors. She leaves a husband and three children, her mother and two brothers to mourn her loss. Her funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. E. P. WOOD with sermon by Rev. P. ANDREWS, text, Isa. 64:6, "We all do fade as a leaf."

NOTE: Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
