The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1932

DEATH of MRS. ED. O. SMITH.

The community heart was deeply touched with sorrow Tuesday afternoon when announcement was made that Mrs. Ed O. SMITH had passed away at the home in east Mount Ayr. She had been in ill health for more than a year and had been confined to her bed since September 9th. During her long illness she was tenderly cared for by her husband and the children and friends were solicitous for her welfare.

The funeral service will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Rhoades Funeral Home and will be conducted by Rev. E. S. MENOHER.

Sylvia E. WARNER was born near Ringgold City, Iowa, March 1, 1875, and departed this life May 31, 1932, at the age of 57 years and three months. When a small child she moved with her parents to Mount Ayr. At the early age of 12 she accepted her Savior and lived a devoted christian life to the end, through her long illness leaning on the support her Heavenly Father gave her.

She was united in marriage to Ed O. SMITH May 30, 1894, and to this union four children were born. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always ready to lend a helping hand for the good of her loved ones. Although time can never erase the vacancy she leaves, we know she is receiving her reward in the beautiful city above.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband; four children - Mrs. G. K. TWAY, Omaha, Neb.; George of Sioux City, Iowa; Orville of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Mrs. Dale HAMMER of Grant City, Mo.; four granddaughters - Mrs. Dale KREAMIER and Wathena SMITH of Mount Ayr, Marvel HAMMER of Grant City, Mo., and Joanna SMITH of Sioux City, Iowa; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. WARNER of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and four sisters - Lucy CAMPBELL, Bedford, Iowa; Orra GIBSON and Amila JACOBS, Minneapolis, Minn., and Alice POTTER of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and a host of other relatives and friends.
