OBITUARY - MRS. MATILDA G. SMITH.

Matilda Gertrude LEE was born October 14, 1854, near Chicago, Ill., and departed this life February 15, 1923, at the home of her son, Glen STOHER, in Ottumwa, Iowa, aged sixty-eight years, four months and one day.

She moved to Iowa with her parents in early childhood and was located near Mount Ayr for the greater part of her life with the exception of a few years spent in Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Milton SULLIVAN in the year of 1873 and to this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters. One daughter and the father preceded her in death.

She was again united in marriage to Frank STOHER and one son, Glen STOHER, of Ottumwa, survives of this union.

She united with the M. E. church when but a girl and has ever remained true to her belief and strong in her love for her Christ.

She was a member of the Rebekah lodge for a great number of years at Mount Ayr.

She enjoyed good health until Tuesday, February 13th, when she was stricken with paralysis and was never able to speak again until death came on February 15 at 6:35 p. m.

She leaves to mourn her loss four children, William SULLIVAN, Sylvester SULLIVAN, Mrs. Addie BUTLER and Glen STOHER and one grandchild Chester STOHER.

The funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church in Kellerton by her pastor, Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, of Mount Ayr, assisted by Rev. BENNETT, of Kellerton, and was laid to rest in Maple Row cemetery.

NOTE: Glen M. STOHER was born in 1893 and died in 1973 with interment beside his wife, Vinetta I. (1895- ?) at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton. Denmer STOHER was born in 1917 and died in 1918 with interment at Maple Row Cemetery.
