OBITUARY - MABEL MAXINE (BOWMAN) SMITH

Mabel Maxiene SMITH, 89, of Mount Ayr died June 8, 2004, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. The Rev. Charles HAWKINS will officiate the service. Open visitation will be after 9 a.m. Thursday with family visitation 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Mrs. Smith, daughter of Sedalia (DIBEL) and John BOWMAN, was born April 10, 1915, in Mount Ayr. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1933. On July 3, 1933, she married Harold Le Roy SMITH in Mount Ayr. She worked in the laundry department at Ringgold County Hospital and Clearview Home, both in Mount Ayr, and in housekeeping at the Clinton Motel. She also cleaned homes in Mount Ayr.

Survivors include a grandson, Alan (wife Paula) YORK of Weatherby Lake, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers George and Harry BROWN; sisters Blanche MILLER, Ethel LOVELY, Edna McCLURE, Diamond RUCKMAN and Iowa CREGEEN; and daughter Marilyn Maxine YORK.
