He with his parents moved near Corydon, Iowa, where he lived until 1881, when they moved to Ringgold county, where he lived until 1897, then moving to Montana and then to Minnesota where he lived until 1912, when he came back to Ringgold county.

He leaves to mourn his death three sisters and one brother, Mrs. C. M. BAY, Hutchinson, Kan.; Mrs. J. C. JAGGER, Hale, Mo.; Mrs. D. R. BEMENT, Indianola, Iowa, and Homer H. SLOAN, of Mount Ayr.

November 23, 1887, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth JARVIS, of Diagonal. To this union was born one son, William Orville, of Deerwood, Minn., and two daughters, Mrs. Nina BARBER, Deerwood, Minn., and May, who passed away in 1915.

His father, Humphrey R. SLOAN, and mother, C. B. SLOAN, both of Glasgow, Scotland, preceded him in death.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for a number of years.
