OBITUARY - VIVA E. SLACK

Mrs. J. W. SLACK passed away Sunday at her home north of New Market after a short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. DEZELL, and interment was in Dallas Center.

Mrs. SLACK had spent her entire life in this community and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was a good wife, loving mother and a neighbor in all that the word implies. Her death will be sincerely mourned by the entire community.

Vivia was born February 5, 1873 near New Market, Iowa and departed this life June 14, 1925 at the age of 52 years, four months, and nine days. She was united in marriage to J. W. SLACK on December 24, 1895. To this union three children were born, Hallene COMBS and Feol (sic, should be George) SLACK of New Market, and Luke who died in infancy.

Besides the husband and two children she leaves three brothers and four sisters to mourn her departure. They are E. A. RAWLINGS, of Denton, Kansas, J. A. R. of Mercer, MO, L. P. of Orland, Calif., Mrs F. B. LINDSAY of Yuma, Colo., Mrs. M. C. REEVES, Neosho, MO, Mrs. P. LATHROP of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. B. F. WILLIAMS, of Neosho, MO.

At the age of eighteen years she united with the M.E. church at North Grove and through out her whole life was a living example of christianity.

NOTE: John William SLACK, Viva E. (RAWLINGS) SLACK,and George R. SLACK (1901-1956) were interred at Dallas Center Cemetery, Dallas Center, Iowa.
