DAIVY DEAN (RUSSELL) SEVIER

Daivy Dean (RUSSELL) SEVIER, 87, went to be with her Savior on August 7, 2007. She was born June 10, 1920 to Lewis C. & Catherine (FERGUSON) RUSSELL at Gravity, IA.

Her family moved to Beaconsfield, IA in 1921; where they lived on several farms in the area before moving to Julesburg, CO in 1930. She graduated from Julesburg High School in 1940 where she played softball & cheer leaded. She worked the last 2 years of high school for the National Youth Association under President Franklin ROOSEVELT. Daivy had many stories to tell of living with 6 brothers and 3 sisters; of raising hundreds of turkeys and killing rattlesnakes and walking 5 miles to school.

Daivy Dean moved back to Beaconsfield in 1942. On May 10, 1942 she married Delbert (By Hen) SEVIER. Of this union, one daughter, Doris Kay, was born. Daivy worked very hard her whole life; gardening, canning all kinds of food & their own meat, crocheting, knitting, quilting and doing her own sewing. She always wanted to help everyone no matter what the problem was.

Daivy and Delbert moved to Mount Ayr in 1974 to be closer to their daughter and 4 grandchildren. Her biggest enjoyment was watching her grandkids in all of their school and 4-H activities. They attended all of the sporting events to help cheer them on. And then came 11 great-grandchildren to love and enjoy.

She worked at Mount Ayr Cap Factory for 8 years. After hours, she made baseball caps for the little league teams. Delbert passed away in 1995 and in February of 1997, she made the decision to move to Clearview Home where she enjoyed the many activities, helping with flowers and making new friends.

Daivy Dean is survived by her daughter, Doris Kay WALTERS & husband Dale of Mount Ayr; 4 grandchildren Tammy WALK & husband Tom of Greenfield, IA, Scott WALTERS of Mount Ayr, Clint WALTERS & wife Kris Tina of Osceola, and Cindy McGEE & husband Malcolm of San Antonio, TX; 11 great-grandchildren T.J., Michelle, Heather, Allison, and Brenna WALK, Mollie WALTERS, Tyler, Ryan, Kyra, and Mya WALTERS; sister-in-law Juanita LAIRD of Beaconsfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers Carl, Paul, Glen, Judd, Earl, and Boyd RUSSELL; sisters Clara, Katheryn, and Jacqueline; brothers-in-law Donald SEVIER & wife Juanita SEVIER and brother-in-law Kenneth LAIRD.

Services were held Friday, August 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
