OBITUARY - RUSSELL LOWELL NORRIS

Russell Lowell NORRIS, son of Dayton & Eunice (SHAFER) NORRIS, was born August 6, 1929 on the family farm near Redding, Iowa. Russell moved with his family to the Kellerton area in 1941; graduating from Kellerton High School with the class of 1948. Russell served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He entered on September 14, 1951 and was honorably discharged on July 3, 1953 after having received the Bronze Star medal for meritous achievement in ground operations against the enemy.

On November 14, 1953, Russell was united in marriage to Nellie Lou GIBSON at the United Methodist Church in Kellerton. To this union, three children were born; Steven Craig, Dayna Marie, and Andrea Lynn.

Russell farmed for a living and drove a truck. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Topaz Lodge #438, and the American Legion, all in Kellerton. After a nearly two year courageous fight with cancer, Russell died on January 3, 2008 in his home with those that he dearly loved by him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law Leo & Bernice GIBSON; a brother Myron NORRIS; and a sister Peggy KENNEDY.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Nellie of Kellerton; three children Steve NORRIS & wife Sharla of Kellerton, Dayna CAMPBELL & husband Doug of Shannon City, and Andrea FRIER & husband Mike of Colfax; six grandchildren Shannon RUSK & husband Josh, Scott NORRIS, Chelsea & Wesley CAMPBELL, Jacob & Kirsten FRIER; brother LeRoy NORRIS of Culbertson, Montana; sister Patty NEY & husband George of Blackfoot, Idaho; two brothers-in-law Roy KENNEDY of Rogers, Arkansas and Donald GIBSON & wife Joyce of Bainbridge Island, Washington; sister-in-law Peggy NORRIS of Union Star, Missouri; other relatives and many dear friends.

Memorials have been established for Tingley Christian Church and Mt. Ayr Health Care Center.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008, United Methodist Church of Kellerton, Iowa.
