SUDDEN DEATH OF K. D. JONES

The greatest shock our community has experienced in recent months was the sudden death Thursday afternoon of K. D. JONES, one of the most prominent, properous, and highly respected farmers in Tingley township. He became over-heated while at work Monday on the farm but had apparently recovered from this and was in Tingley Wednesday afternoon, seemingly in his usual health. That night he was taken suddenly and critically ill. Several physicians were called in consultation with Dr. McINTOSH over the patient, and all that medical skill could do was employed, but without avail he passed away as stated. His passing was supposed to trace to complications following his Monday illness. The funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon at [illegible] southeast of Tingley, conducted by Rev. Virgil WILLEY, pastor of the Tingley M.E. church, and interment was made in the Creston cememtery. There was a very large attendance at the funeral attesting to the high regard in which Mr. JONES was held by this community. The following obituary was read:

Kenneth (sic, should be Kendrick) David JONES, son of David [1826-1901] and Hannah [1830-1916] JONES, was born May 16, 1873 in [Green Castle] Johnson county, Iowa near Iowa City. He passed away at his farm home 11 miles southwest of Tingley, Ringgold County, Iowa, at 3 p.m., August 1, 1935 at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 15 days.

When he was young, he moved with his parents to a farm north of Ellston, Iowa, and there in country school received his grade education.

In 1894 he married Miss Ellen COOPER (sic, should be Eliza COOPER), and to this union were born one son, Alvin of Tingley, Iowa, and one daughter, Mrs. Julia CONKLIN of [illegible], Iowa. The former Mrs. JONES died in February 1, 1899. In June [27] of 1891 Mr. Jones again married and this time to Miss Julia [Christina] WENZEL. To this union were born two sons, Charles I. of Hanford, Calif. and William D. of Tingley, Iowa.

Mr. JONES had always been a farmer, well-respected by all who knew him. He had lived successively on a farm north of Ellston, northwest of Arispie near Spaulding, Iowa, near Osceola, and [illegible] to his last residence near Tingley.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in February, 1899, by his father in 1901, by his brother Frank whose date of death is unknown, by another brother, Oscar, on March 18, 19[illegible], by his mother in 1916, and by three grandchildren. He is surved by his wife, of Tingley, by one brother, Orville, of Ganner's Ferry, Idaho, by two sisters, Mrs. Julia FULMER of Billings, Mont., and Mrs. Alice McELWAINE of Galesburg, Ill; by his three sons and one daughter; by twelve grandchildren, and by five great-grandchildren.

Card of Thanks

We wish to thank all the fiends and neighbors for their kindness to us during the illness and since the death of our husband and father. Your kind words, and loving deeds are treasured memories. Especially beautiful to us were the lovely floral offerings, messages of sympathy, the comforting words of the minister, and the consolation in the songs of the singers. Out of the depths of sorrowing hearts, we again thank you, one and all.

Mrs. K. D. JONES and Children
