WILLIE D. MILLS

Willie Douglas MILLS, son of James Ogden and Lillie Florence (NOLAN) MILLS was born October 21, 1895, in Greenwood, Mississippi, and passed away September 18, 1965 at his home in Mount Ayr, IA at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 27 days.

Mr. MILLS spent his childhood in Eden, Mississippi, where he was baptized into the Baptist Church at an early age.

In 1909, he began his career with the Illinois Central Railroad at Clarksdale, Mississippi and retired in 1960 from the Wabash Railroad after 20 years with that company.

He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Free Masonry Valley of Detroit, Michigan, Findlater Lodge, No. 475, F. & A.M., American Legion and the Ringgold County Sportsman Club.

On Dec 9 1935, he was united in marriage with Ruby Marie SWEENEY and they made their home in Detroit, Michigan, later retiring to Mount Ayr, IA.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister Viola and 2 brothers, Walter and James David MILLS.

Left to cherish his memory are his widow Ruby; his mother-in-law, Mrs. James SWEENEY; several brothers and sisters-in-law; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held September 21 from the Rhodes Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Orville C. RINEHART, pastor of the First Baptist Church.

Graveside services in Rose Hill Cemetery were conducted by the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.
