OBITUARY

Uncle Maley McDONALD died at his home in Kellerton at 7 o'clock Saturday evening, September 8, after an illness of about two weeks. Mr. McDONALD has been in poor health for several years, but most of the time had been able to be around. He was one of our oldest and most respected citizens, having lived in Iowa the greater part of his life.

Maley McDONALD was born in Madison County, Ohio, May 16, 1823, and departed this life September 8, 1894, being 71 years, 3 months and 23 days old. He was a devout Christian and a member of the order of Odd Fellows, having joined the Lodge at Decatur City, on December 26, 1863, of which he was a faithful member until a few years ago, when he transferred his membership to Lodge at Kellerton, for convenience.

His last request was that Decatur Lodge, No. 102, the members of which he had mingled with for so many years, should have charge of his body and conduct the burial rites at the grave, which was carried out with a tribute of respect to themselves and their dead brother.

Deceased leaves only one son and eight grandchildren to mourn his loss.

There were eighty-two members in attendance from the Decatur, Lamoni, Mt. Ayr and Kellerton Lodges. - B.H.S.
