OBITUARY .

Josephus MAIN was born in Ripley county, Indiana, May 3, 1841, and died at his home in Liberty township Sunday morning, February 19, 1893. He was converted and united with the M. E. church when 17 years of age, and was a member at the time of his death. For some time he served in the army and at the battle of Stone River received a wound from which for twenty-eight years he carried a bullet that was only extracted a brief time ago.

He was married May 14, 1865, to Sarah E. CASTATTER, who with seven children survive him. He removed to Ringgold county in 1885 and has since resided here. He was a kind neighbor and an honest citizen. For several months he has suffered from Bright's disease of the kidneys and his death was not entirely unexpected, but quite sudden.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. L. NYE.

NOTE: Josephus MAIN was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. Sarah E. (CASTATTER), wife of Josephus MAIN, died at the age of 78 years on December 18, 1919, and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery.
