OBITUARY - TILNESS MACKEY

Tilness MACKEY, son of George and Matilda MACKEY, was born at Marietta, Ohio, in 1849. When he was two years old his parents came to Iowa and settled near West Point in Lee county. In 1875 he was married to Miss Julia BALDWIN at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The following year they came to Ringgold county and with the exception of three or four years this county has been their home ever since. Four children were born to them - Sadie Ellen, who died in infancy; Lillie, who died at the age of twelve; Virgel Guy, and Mrs. Art PAYNE, who survive him. Two grandchildren, Roy and Troy, were a great comfort to the deceased during the latter years of his life. Besides the wife there are four brothers who survive him. Charles of Kellerton; Ira, who lives in Nebraska; Elias, in South Dakota; James F., of Gravity, Iowa. One sister and four brothers have gone on before him.

Mr. MACKEY was a man of quiet demeanor, diligent, and home loving. His death followed about six months of suffering which he endured patiently. His passing was on Wednesday after a night of unusual pain.
