OBITUARY - L. C. LAY.

Luther C. LAY, youngest son of Benjamin and Mary (TURNER) LAY, was born near Battle Creek, Mich., March 26, 1841, and passed to his reward March 3, 1933, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and five days. He was the youngest of twelve children and the last of his generation. He was left without father and mother at a tender age and usually found a home with christian friends.

He was converted and united with the Methodist church in boyhood and the folks at Eureka will always remember how he enjoyed the fellowship of the church and Sunday school when he lived on the farm and was able to go.

He and another brother came to Buda, Illinois, in the late sixties and in the spring of seventy-two he came by horseback to Ringgold county, Iowa, where he met and married Sarah Jane IRVING September 10, 1875, and established their home in Washington township, Larole Isabel died in infancy (sic). The beloved wife and mother was called to her heavenly home August 11, 1911.

There remains to mourn his going Mary PARKER and Corwin LAY, of Buda, Ill.; Mrs. Eric ANDERSON, Homer, Lee, John, Joe and Oveda, all of Mount Ayr; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He has been an invalid for the past three years and when the Lord called he was ready and willing to go to meet the loved ones gone on before.

We have said goodbye to father and mother,
Together we have rejoiced in this world.
Together we shall rejoice in a brighter world.
They have gone because their work was done.
We toil on because there is something for us to do.
When it is our time to enter, they will come down
To meet us in this dark world of sin and pain,
Where we only meet to part again;
But when we reach the heavenly shore we shall
Meet to part no more.
The hope that we shall meet that day
Shall chase our present griefs away.
