FUNERAL OF MRS. SHIFFLETT, THURS. 2:30

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Shifflett, who passed away Sunday evening at the home of her son, J.G. Shifflett, will be held Thursday at 2:30 o'clock according to present plans, from the J.G. Shifflett home. Burial will be in the Malcom cemetery, where her husband is buried.

The other son, Wade, is on his way to Grinnell from his home in Nampa, Calif., and is expected Thursday morning.

Mrs. Shifflett was 74 years old. She had been in failing health for some time, the first sign of a break in her usual good health coming while she was visiting her son Wade in California last June. She was not able to return to Grinnell until October and since Christmas has been in the home of her son, Glenn.

Mrs. Shifflett, who before her marriage was Margaret Corrough, was born in Ireland, the first born of ten children. One sister has preceded her in death. She is survived by four sisters, Miss Belle Corrough and Mrs. Sarah Duffus of Grinnell, Mrs. Agnes Barnum of Great Falls, Mon., and Mrs. Rachael Smith of Clarksville, Ia. and four brothers, James and Will Corrough of Grinnell, John Corrough of Brooklyn and Samuel Corrough of St. Joseph, Mo., besides her two sons and three grand children, Ruth Helen and Mary Shifflett of Grinnell and Wade Nelson, Jr., of California.

Mrs. Shifflett came to this country with her parents when a child. They lived first in Scott county and when she was about fiteen years old the family came to Poweshiek county, which has been her home ever since. She was married on January 29, 1880, to Albert Franklin Shifflett, Mrs. Shifflett dying on the 48th anniversary of their wedding day. Mr. Shifflett died in 1895, leaving Mrs. Shifflett with the two young sons, whom she has seen grow to successful manhood.

A large circle of relatives and friends mourn the passing of a strong, upright and useful woman.
