MYRTLE BEACH MEMORIAL HELD

Myrtle N. Beach, 76, of Iowa City, formerly of Grinnell, died Friday, Dec. 5, at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, Calif., after a brief illness.

A memorial service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City, with burial in Memory Gardens there. Memorials in Mrs. Beach's name may be made to the American Heart Association or to the First United Methodist Church of Iowa City.

The daughter of Henry and Jennie Vader Niedert, she was born on Nov. 5, 1910, in Canistota, S.D. She attended the University of Minnesota.

On June 29, 1935, she was married to Robert D. Beach in Mason City. The couple had been Iowa City residents since moving there from Grinnell in 1958. Mrs. Beach was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the University Club, the Mercy Hospital Guild, the Iowa City Women's Club and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister. Survivors include one son, Robert D. Jr. of Long Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Sandra Freeman of Iowa City and Marcia DaPont of Santa Cruz, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
