Marian Alice Cook, youngest daughter of Alva C. and Emaline Cook, was born at Oneida, New York on September 16, 1853 and died at her home in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday evening August 14, 1926. She came to Iowa in 1855 with her parents, who settled on a farm west of town.

On December 31, 1872 she was united in marriage with W.C. Williams. To this union were born four children, two of whom, Viola Maud and Mrs. Leila M. Brayton, preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are Mrs. Annie E. Turner of Grinnell and Mrs. J.P. Watson of Des Moines, Iowa. Other immediate survivors are her husband C.W. Williams, one brother C.F. Cook of Cincinnati, Ohio and one sister Mrs. Geo. Utley of Sevastopol, Cal. and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Willliams was a member of the W.R.C. and of the New Century Club. Some time ago she was baptised and enrolled as a member of the Methodist church in Grinnell. She had been a great sufferer for many months but in it all showed remarkable fortitude and patience. Mrs. Williams had many friends who regard her going as a loss to them but a sweet release from her suffering.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. George Blagg. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mrs. W.H. and Miss Genevieve Taylor. The W.R.C. members attended the service in a body. Burial was made in Hazelwood.
