OTTO ADOLPH DIETZE

Otto Adolph Dietze, 97 of Guernsey, Iowa, died March 26, 1987, in Grinnell General Hospital at Grinnell, Iowa.

He was born on September 28, 1889, near Millersburg, Iowa, the son of William and Louise (Bartels) Dietze. He was the eighth of nine children. He attended rural school in Dayton township, Iowa County.

On March 8, 1911, he was united in marriage with Margaret (Ella) Wagner at Millersburg. He farmed all of his life and they lived near Keswick, Millersburg and Deep River before moving to their present farm south of Guernsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son; a daughter, Evelyn King on July 19, 1942, and eight brothers and sisters: Mary, Harry, Gus, Minnie (Goodman), Edie (Duffy), Emman, Anna (Calvert) and Louis.

Otto is survived by his wife, Margaret (Ella) Dietze of Brookhaven Nursing Home at Brooklyn; one grandson and his wife, David Lee and Beverly King of Guernsey and three great grandchildren: David, Douglas and Dianne King; other relatives and friends.

Services were Saturday, March 28 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with the Rev. Jim Schutter officiating.

Music was "How Great Thou Art," "The Old Rugged Cross," sung by Mrs. Harlan (Sue) Kluber. Organist was Mrs. Francis (Marilyn) Kriegel.

Casket bearers were Jim Cheney, Kenneth (Bud) Cheney, Harlan Burke, Marvin Hicks, Robert Weisskopf, and Max Breniman. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Roger (Mary) Steffen and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll (Bonnie) Ritchie.

Interment was at Community Cemetery near Millersburg, Iowa. Memorials can be sent to Guernsey United Methodist Church.
