JUANITA BEMIS

Juanita Schaffer Bemis, 55, of Des Moines, a former resident of Grinnell, died of cancer Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, with burial in Glendale Cemetery.

A native of Lucas, she lived in Grinnell, graduating from high school here, before moving to Des Moines 35 years ago. She was a registered nurse at Coggeshell Chiropractic Clinic.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Bemis of Des Moines; three sons, Jeffrey of Eugene, Ore., Charles of Des Moines and David of Omaha, Neb.; her father, Gerald Schaffer of Latimer; four sisters, Rosalie Smith of Mountain Home, Ark., Carole Leisinger of Waterloo, Judy Muhlenbruck of Latimer and Alice Miller of Ankeny, and one grandchild.
