ILENE WAYRAUCH, 95

Ilene Weyrauch, 95, of Grinnell died Oct. 11, 2012, at the Grinnell Health Care Center.

A graveside service and burial was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with Pastor Keith Morrison, Grinnell Regional Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ilene Weyrauch Memorial Fund.

Ilene was born March 28, 1917, on the family farm, northeast of Grinnell, the daughter of Louis and May Cogley Pickhardt. She was raised in the Sheridan Townhip area and was a 1935 graduate of Grinnell High School.

On Dec. 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Wells Russell Weyrauch, at Trinity Lutheran Church, north of Malcom. The couple farmed for three years near Eldora and then for four years in Sheridan Township. They moved to Grinnell in 1953 and owned and operated Weyrauch Flower Center for many years. She was also employed for several years at Grinnell College and helped her son, Gary deliver the Des Moines Register.

Ilene enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and dancing. She knew the value of hard-work.

Survivors include two sons, Gary of Grinnell and Neil of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1984; one brother, Lester Pickhardt; and one sister, Esther Pickhardt in infancy.
