I have been trying to get a Birth Certificate for my mother Nannie Dowden She was the daughter of John C. Dowden and Cora Alice Howe. She was born 31 July 1895 or 1896. I think she was born in Milo, IA. John C. Doddens family lived around Pleasanville, Marion County, IA. I have had no luck and about a hundred dollars in fees re applying. I thought maybe the marriage cert. would clear up the dates.
