Adoptions went through the Court. It is my understanding that the law on disclosures has changed. Adoptions prior to July 4, 1941 can be accessed. Write a letter stating your reasons for wanting to find the biological parents, ie. health, etc. and stating everything that you know about the adoption. Send it to the Clerk of Iowa District Court - Polk Co., 500 Mulberry St., Rm. 111 - Juvenile Div., Des Moines, Iowa 50309.
The letter has to be taken before a Judge for approval and then a search will be made for the file.
