Information Please On RETREAT CO., INC 1920's

Can anyone tell me what the Retreat Company, INC was in about the 1920's in Des Moines? I found a person who may or may not be a relative years ago in this Institutionand she is listed as an Inmate.
was this a woman's Reformatory or what. There are several Housemates listed too, and I am curios as to what it is and why is she listed as an Inmate. Is it a Prison? Very interesting if so.
How can I get further information on this person who lived theri in 1920, would it be possible to get any records on this person?
