Spohn, William B. - 1920-2011

William Spohn, 90, passed away on October 22, 2011, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, IA. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel with burial following at Glendale Cemetery.
William was born on December 27, 1920, to William and Maude Spohn in Des Moines, IA, where he lived most of his life. He married Patricia (Curran) Spohn on March 9, 1941 in Bethany, MO. Mr. Spohn was a World War II veteran and served in the US Navy from 1942-1945.
He was employed by Colby Interests for over 40 years and retired as President in 1994. William was a life-long railroad enthusiast and loved taking trips with his wife. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren,
William will be missed by his children, Sandra (Clair) Brooks of Cedar Falls, IA, Patricia (Kerry) Nelson of North Oak, MN, Teresa Spohn of Waverly, IA; Nancy (Tony) Banks of Lake Worth, FL; seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Spohn.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 24, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, IA, and Cedar Valley Hospice.
