Konchar, Elma Helen Grgurich - 1920-2011

Elma Helen Konchar, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Iowa Senior Jewish Life Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday October 24, 2011 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Elma was born in Des Moines on January 5, 1920, to Frank and Helen Grgurich. During the war years, she worked in civil service in San Francisco and St. Louis, assisting in the processing of war brides when they came to the United States. She also worked in the munitions factory in Ankeny during these years. She retired from the City State Bank in Madrid after working there for 32 years. Elma was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Elma is survived by her children Diane Berke of Minneapolis, Marianne (Dwight) Anderson of Omaha, and Dr. Gregory (Phyllis) Konchar of Pleasant Hill; and her grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, and Samuel, Alexandra, and Lucas Konchar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and brothers Carl and John Grgurich.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic School or the Iowa Senior Jewish Life Center.
