Robert Dean Kellar, Jr., 64, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, while fishing on Leech Lake in Minnesota. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, where a Masonic Service will be held at 4 p.m. Following the Masonic service please join the family at Acanthus Lodge located at 4133 Urbandale Ave. for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Per Bob's request cremation rites will be accorded and a private burial will be at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.

Bob was born on August 25, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri. He lived in Missouri, Minnesota, and spent most of his life in Des Moines. Bob was an active leader, trusted confidant, and member of several Masonic organizations such as the Acanthus Lodge and High Priest of Ascalon.

Bob began his baking career at the age of 14 and worked for 26 years with Dahl's Food Stores. He continued his career in the baking industry. In Bob's spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and his Masonic activities.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Kellar from Chicago. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon, two children, Anthony (Erin) Kellar of Clarksville, TN and Robyn (Grant) Wheeler of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Steven, Jacob, Anthony and Abbigail; and his siblings, Jerry Kellar, Kathy (Karl) Webb, Darrell (Darlene) Kellar, Sheila (Perry) Hall, and Dale (Lori) Kellar, all of Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
