Rosann Mayne, 67, passed from this life on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at her home following a courageous battle with lung cancer. A memorial service celebrating Rosann's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ located at 4126 Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines. Private services will also take place there at Plymouth Memorial Gardens.

Rosann was born on May 1, 1944 in Louisville, KY, to Robert S. Shields and Louise I. Roberts. She lived in Seattle, WA, prior to moving to Des Moines, IA, in 1987. For 32 years, she was employed with Principal Financial Group, retiring in 2007 as Director of Annuity Operations. Rosann was a member and Senior Deacon of Plymouth Congregational Church. One of her many passions, was spoiling her loving companion and special dog, Cinder. Rosann also enjoyed spending countless hours reading and volunteering at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Brett Mayne of Seattle and his fiance, Maryn Torner; Erik Thomas Mayne of Waukee; their father, Tom Mayne of Sun City West, AZ; and a host of several extended family members and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, it was Rosann's wishes that any memorial contributions be made to either the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or Plymouth Church Foundation.
