Donald R. Coon Battle Creek Donald R. Coon, age 78, of Battle Creek, died Saturday July 30, 2011 at his home. Don was born August 30, 1932 in Park Rapids, MN to Clayton and Irma (Hegwood) Coon and came to Battle Creek in 1957 from Des Moines, Iowa. Don had served in the US Army in the Korean War. He married the former Loretta Krause on January 23, 1953. Don retired as Plant Manager for the Burdick Packing Co. after 36 years. Don was a member of the American Legion Post #54.

He is survived by his wife Loretta, daughters; Lou Anne (Cork) Baker and Susan (Jim) Seech both of Battle Creek, sons; Douglas Coon of Battle Creek and Michael Coon of Dexter, MO., 6 grandchildren, a sister; Shirley Hays of West Des Moines, IA, and a cousin; Virginia Gilliland of Des Moines, IA. Don was preceded in death by his daughter and son in law, Dona Jo and Mark Wilkerson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Maple United Methodist Church, 342 Capital Ave NE. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Maple United Methodist Church or the Southwest Regional Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements are by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.
