James Patrick Delaney, 59, of Sioux City died Tuesday after in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 1:30pm Friday in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Robert Rasmussen, pastor of Victory Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 pm today with a prayer service at 8 pm in the funeral home.

Mr. Delaney was born Nov 6, 1925, in Woonsocket, SD to Thomas and Lillian Delaney. He lived in Vermillion, SD until 1949 when he moved to Kingsley, Iowa. He married Evelyn L. Robinson Nov 3, 1949, at Elk Point SD, They farmed in the Kingsley area until 1960 when they moved to Sioux City. He was a truck driver for many years until he became disabled in 1970.

Survivors include three sons, James T. of Olathe, Kan., Charles R. of Sioux City and Dennis D. of South Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Dick (Deanna) Dawdy and Mrs. Butch (Kathryn) Bosshart, both of Sioux City and Mrs. Everett (Sharon) Fincher of Peru, Ind.; two brothers Thomas of Sioux City and Joseph of Vermillion; five sisters, Mrs. Irene McDonald, Mrs. Mae Voudry, Mrs. Lillian Brown and Mrs. Alice Brown, all of Vermillion and Mrs. Myrtle Novotny of Denver, Colo. and 14 grandchildren.
