Bonita “Bonnie” Lynn Trobaugh, 73, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by her family on March 25, 2024. A funeral will be held Friday, March 29th at 12:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bonnie was born on February 10, 1951 in Akron, IA to Calvin and Norma (Lilly) Gruis. She was united in marriage to Chester Trobaugh on August 16, 1968 in Elk Point, SD. After their marriage Bonnie moved to Germany to be with Chester while he was serving overseas and while they were there they welcomed their first son, Todd. When Chester’s tour overseas was over, the couple made their home in Sioux City, Iowa where they welcomed 2 more children, Brent and Cindy. In 1996 the couple moved to Greeley, Colorado where Bonnie spent 10 years working as a bus attendant. Bonnie moved back to Sioux City in 2006 to be closer to family and has worked as a bus attendant for the Sioux City Schools Systems for the past 18 years. Bonnie enjoyed the mountains of Colorado, watching the birds, squirrels, and deer in her back yard, bowling with her friends and swimming in her pool. Most of all, Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who adored her dogs and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Todd (Jessica) Trobaugh, Cindy (Kevin) Eisma, and Brent Trobaugh; her grandchildren: Courtney Jansma, Justin Mathewson, Callie Peters, Abigale Simoni, Matthew Simoni, Brandon Figge, Ashley Hagestrom, Cori Eickholt, Bobbi Jo Steinhoff and Tanner Steinhoff; and her great grandchildren: Callen, Emmett and Jaxson Jansma.

She is preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Norma Gruis; husband Chester Trobaugh; brothers, Bernard Gruis and Barry Gruis, daughter-in-law, Kim Trobaugh, great-grandson, Kayden Solma, her father and mother-in-law and special friend, Randall Blades.
