Le Mars, Iowa – Roger M. Klopp, 88, baptized child of God, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. A prayer service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Roger McMonies Klopp was born July 3, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Isabel (McMonies) and Loren Churchill Klopp of Blair, Nebraska. Roger graduated from Blair High School in 1954 and received his BA from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska in 1958. He received his MA from Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado in 1961.
On June 5, 1960, Roger and Mary Jacobsen were joined in marriage at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. The couple made their home in Le Mars. To this union two daughters were born, Laurie and Karen.
Roger was a science teacher for thirty-six years. One year in Colo, Iowa and the remainder in Le Mars. After retiring from teaching in 1995, he worked at Sears and at the Le Mars Boat Farm. He enjoyed singing with the choir at church.
Roger is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Laurie (Galen) Kleinwolterink and Karen (Jon) Edwards; and three grandchildren Marie Taylor, Dane Edwards, and Barrett Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Mary on May 15, 2023.
