Gerd H. Johnson, 90, Akron died Tuesday (March17, 1981) in the Akron hospital of a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Marvin Mueller will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born June 10 June 10, 1890, in Oldenburg, Germany. He came to the United States and to Plymouth County at the age of two. He married Elsie Popken Jan. 7, 1914, near Akron. He was a lifelong area farmer, retiring to Akron in 1954. Mrs. Johnson died in 1970.

Pallbearers were R. G. Witt, Arval Jurgensen, Herman Renken, Lesley Anderson, Verle Barwick and Gerald Krause.

Mr. Johnson was born June 10, 1890, near Akron. He was a lifelong area farmer, retiring to Akron in 1954. Mrs. Johnson died in 1970.

He married Margaret Steffen Oct. 3, 1970, at Fairmont Minn. He entered the Akron Nursing Home in 1977.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Walter of Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Vance (Wanda) Erickson of Sioux City; a stepdaughter Gladys Niehaus of Fairmont; two stepsons Vernon Steffen of New York and Harvey Steffen of El Reno, Okla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren, and three half sisters.
