JOHNSON—At the family home in Akron, Iowa, Tuesday evening, March 13, 1906, E. L. Johnson of Bright’s disease, aged 52 years, 6 months and 18 days.
For a number of years deceased has been a sufferer with kidney trouble, which finally developed into the dread Bright’s disease. During the past few weeks he has been a great sufferer especially during the days just preceding the moment when death made merciful entrance.
Erlon LeRoy Johnson was born at Farmington, Ohio, August 23, 1853, living there with his parents until their removal to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1856, where he spent his boyhood. He was united in marriage with Miss Viola Johnson at Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, March 30, 1879 and they made a home at Oshkosh until the spring of 1881, when they moved to Washington county, Nebraska, and engaged in farming.
In 1885 they located in Thurston county, Nebraska, and in 1902 went to Armour, S. D. The following year they came to Akron, be buying the confectionery and bakery of C. L. Chamberlin, and has since conducted the business.
Four children were born of this union one daughter, Lela (Lila), having died here April 30, 1904, those surviving being a daughter, Lula, and two sons, LeRoy and Leon. Besides the bereaved wife and children, there are left to mourn his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, and his brother, J. M. of South Sioux City, Nebraska, to all of whom this community offers its condolence.
A man of excellent character, he held the esteem and respect of all, and he will be greatly missed by his business colleagues and the general public in future daily routine of affairs.
Funeral services tis Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Akron M. E. church were largelyattended, Rev. F. L. Moore offering words of consolation and hope to the sorrowing family. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery, beside the remains of his daughter.
Besides the parents and brother from South Sioux City, there were present at the funeral the following friends of deceased from Pender, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Severance, Mrs. Biles, W. A. Webb and Martin Maloney.
