Services Saturday For Walter Massmann

Funeral services for Walter C. Massmann were held Saturday morning, July 20 at 10:30 at the Zion Lutheran church, Paullina. Mr. Massmann passed away Thursday morning, July 18 at the Sioux Valley hospital at Cherokee. He had been a patient there since July 2. Walt had reached the age of 70 years, 1 month and 18 days

Rev. Donald L. Johnson officiated a t the service. Pallbearers were Roy Rehder, Walter Schlichtang, Gus Appeldorn, Knute Wester, Kenneth Straub and Julius Hoger. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Grell, Emil Haht, Berwyn Prince, Jeppe Larsen, Sid Gustafsen and Otto Kruse. Mrs. Marvin Fintel sang two hymns with Mrs. Clarence Hibbing as organist. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kruger were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery near Paullina.

Walter C. Massmann, the son of Henry and Minnie nee Tesch Massmann, was born on May 30. 1904 in Caledonia Twp. O'Brien County, Iowa. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran church here in Paullina.

On February 12, 1930 he was married to Delia Buesen at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union two children were born. Walter and Delia farmed in the Paullina are a for many years and retired to Paullina in 1962.

Walter was a member of the L.L.L. men's group in the church: had actively served his Lord as an Elder, trustee and various groups in the church.

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Delia, two children, Fred of Paullina and Dolores (Mrs. Wm. Goosen) of Paullina. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 sister, Metha, Mrs. Roy Meyer of Spencer, 3 brothers, Reinhardt of Paullina, Melvin of Marcus, and Harry of Paullina; and his stepmother, Mrs. Mary Tesch Massmann of Paullina
