Services Held for Mathilda W. Voss

Services for Mathilda W. Voss were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 1987, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with the Rev. Charles Kramer officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Peterson, Douglas Poison, Steve Lundsgaard, Otto Poison, Jr., Tim Lundsgaard and Leonard Breitbarth. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here" were sung by the congregation with Mrs. Verla Hibbing at the organ.

The final resting place is [West] Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Mathilda Wilhelmina Voss, the daughter of Theodore and Mina Stamer Breitbarth, was born January 31, 1890, in Union Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. She attended rural schools. On October 18, 1908, she was united in marriage to Fred Voss in Paullina. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Germantown area for many years until their retirement when they moved into Paullina.

Fred passed away in 1968 in Sioux City. Mathilda remained in Paullina until moving to Cherokee several years ago. She had been a resident of the Country Side Estates in Cherokee where she passed away on Saturday, May 16, 1987, reaching the age of 97 years, 3 months and 15 days.

Mathilda was baptized on February 23, 1890, and later confirmed on March 27, 1904 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.

Mathilda leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Mrs. Lorna Polson of Hartley and LaVon (Mrs. Norman) Heinz of Lakewood, California; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Ed Breitbarth of Iona, Minnesota; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Ervin; one daughter, Haleria Peterson; one granddaughter; 2 grandsons; her parents; three brothers and one sister.
