1891 - JOHN C. EBEL - 1968

John C. Ebel, a son of Emil and Mary Ebel, was born on November 3, 1891 near Carlinville, Illinois. He was baptized and educated in the Lutheran faith in Carlinville.

He later came to this area as a young man and in December of 1915 he was married to Katherine Straub. To them four daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. Ebel farmed northwest of Paullina for about 40 years. In 1945 they retired and moved to Paullina. He died May 7, 1968 at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 4 days.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Katherine; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Hughes of Sioux City, Mrs. June Kluender of Paullina, Mrs. Roberta Quinn of Dixon, Calif; and Mrs. Lois Jordan of Fremont, Calif., and by 19 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles of Spencer and Albert of Paullina; his four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Sanders of Carlinville, Illinois, Mrs. Anna
Regli of Carlinville, Illinois, Mrs. Elizabeth Followell of Chesterfield, Illinois, and Mrs. Violette Gillespie of East Alton, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Melvin Thur officiating. Guardian Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery.
