SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR MAX HINZ

Funeral services for Max Hinz were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley Friday afternoon, March 19. Rev. John Schauer officiated and burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Casket bearers were David Newell, Eugene Egdorf, Joe Getzel, Steve Hinz, Dudley Hinz and Lloyd Penning.

Max Ernest Hinz, the son of Herman and Margaret Sorenson Hinz, was born November 11, 1906 at Kaplan, Germany. He came to the United States with his parents at age four. He attended rural school in Dale Township and became a citizen of the United States.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Egdorf at Paullina, Iowa on September 24, 1930. They farmed in the Paullina area until moving to farm in the Hartley area in 1939. They retired and moved to town in 1972.

He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, serving as Elder, Trustee and in numerous offices of the LLL Men's Club and the Voters Assembly. He had served as a director on the Co-op Elevator Board.

He passed away at the hospital in Worthington, Minnesota on March 16, 1982 at the age of 75. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Frank and William.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Feldt of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Mrs. Dale (Marlene) Nagel and Mrs. James (Peg) Ebel, both of Hartley, Mrs. Delbert (Joann) Hurley of Round Lake, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Shafer and two brothers, John and Harry, all of Paullina, other relatives and friends.
