Estelle E. Summy Magee was born to Aaron and Nancy Summy on February 28, 1875, in Jo Davies County, Illinois. She graduated from Nora, Illinois, High School in 1890, and came to Iowa where she taught school in O'Brien and Clay Counties from 1892-1898.

On December 28, 1897, she married James Wilfred Magee. They farmed until they moved to Hartley, Iowa, in 1904. One son, James Earl, was born in 1904 and died in 1912.

Mrs. Magee moved to Primghar, Iowa, in 1912, where she lived with her mother. She was in the millenary business from 1914-1926. From 1926-1943, she was Assistant County Superintendent of Schools for O'Brien County.

She died at the age of 86 years and five months at Millie's Rest Home, Sutherland, Iowa, on August 4, 1961. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband and son; one sister, Mrs. Emma Hess; and two brothers, Leroy and Earl Summy.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Cora Putnam of Hartley; three brothers: Dr. C.E. Summy of Paullina, W.W. Summy of Red Bluff, California; and C.C. Summy of Davenport; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, was a past Grand, and was also a member of the Methodist church of Primghar.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Charles Kimbrell of the Methodist Church of Primghar, were held at the Baumgarten Funeral Home, Hartley, on August 7, 1961, at 1:30 pm. Intement was in the Pleasant View Ceemtery at Hartley.
