Harvey E. Long, 73, of Los Angeles, California, passed away there on Sunday, August 16, according to word received by Miss Zaidee McCullow.

Mr. Long was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Long; and his wife, Nellie Daggett, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. I.W. Daggett, both early pioneer families of Sanborn; J.D. Long was a photographer here in the early days.

A native of Wisconsin, Mr.Long came to Sanborn when a small boy. In October, 1898, he married Miss Nellie Daggett at Sanborn. At this time he was in the meat business at Ocheyedan, but later they returned to Sanborn to live. They then lived successively in Sioux City, Shelton, Washington, and 32 years ago went to Los Angeles, where they have since made their home.

Mr. Long has been ill for two years and suffered another stroke early in August; he was in the meat business in Los Angeles until he retired two years ago.

Surviving are his widow and two daughters: Mrs. Lucile Demond and Mrs. Mercedes Nay, of Santa Barbara, California; Ira Long of Sanborn is his brother.
