Services in memory of Laura Brehmer were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Pastor David Ericksen officated. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangements.

Laura Brehmer was born December 31, 1904 at Paullina, Iowa, one of ten children of William and Elise (Gruenhagen) Strampe. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received her education in the Lutheran Parochial School in Paullina.

Following her marriage to Julius Brehmer, she moved to Hartley, where she became a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.

She began working in the Hartley school's hot lunch program whe it was initiated in 1947, and became lunchroom manager in 1959. She continued in that capacity until her retirement in 1974.

Mrs. Brehmer passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Sunday, October 17, 1999, at the age of 94.

She was preceded in dath by a son, WIlliam John, and his baby daughter, Billie Lee, in 1954, and her husband, Julius in 1958; also ll of her brothers and sisters and their spouses.

She is survived by two daughters: Betty Hirt and her husbad, Cloy, of West Okoboji Harbor, Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Marlene Kroger of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jennene Maurer and her husband, Glenn of Sheldon, Iowa, Jeri Potter and her husband, James, of Clear Lake, Iowa; ten great grandchildren, five great great granchildren; other relatives and friends.
