Funeral services for Kenneth Rieck, 25, of Lake Park were held on Monday afternoon, June 12, from the Saint John's Lutheran Church at May City, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald Burch officiating at the services.

Kenneth Ray Rieck was the son of Harry and Mathilda Ewald Rieck, and was born at Hartley, Iowa on August 22, 1946. He attended a rural school near May City and attended high school at Melvin, graduating in 1964. He was confirmed in 1960 and was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in May City. He was also a member of the Lake Park Jaycees.

He joined the Navy in January, 1966, and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Constellation in the Vietnam Conflict as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. He received his discharge in January 1979.

On September 6, 1969, he was united in marriage to Vernette Bovee at Humboldt, South Dakota. They made their home in lake Park where he was employed as a lineman and electrician for the Lake Park Municipal Utilities. He met a tragic death at Lake Park, Iowa, June 8, 1972, by electrocution while making repairs on a power line.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vernette; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rieck, a brother, Richard; a sister, Barbara; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Ewald of May City; and other relatives and friends.

Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
