Colorado Trip

BILL

We have a newspaper clipping (in fact a series)of stories which appeared in the Ness County (KS) Pioneer. We have 5 accounts: Mar.13,1880,
Mar. 27, Apr. 3, April 10, pr. 17. This is an extensive diary of a trip made from Albia, IA, to Colorado Springs, CO - a sight-seeing trip!
The trip was made by the Edward M. BIll family and perhaps some friends. We think it would have been Mr. Bill, his wife Esther (Sylvester), daughter Clara Marie and at least one friend, Eugene Harold Borton. The trip was made in the spring of 1878. We are missing one of the segments of the story. Is anyone aware of the trip or have any more information about the family.
The book, THE HISTORY OF MONROE COUNTY, published in 1878 lists Edward M. Bill as a legislative representative. Can any one tell us what years he served as a legislator?
Eugene Harold Borton graduated from the University of IA in 1880 with a law degree and
married Clara Marie Bill (these are my grandparents).
Any info about these people will be an enormous boost in my research. THANX in advance!!! Dick
