searching for half sibling, gender unknown

BELL

My grandfather, Clay Homer Bell, was on the "extra board" for the Rock Island Railroad between Mitchellville and Pella. In 1927 he deserted his family of 3 young children for someone else. His oldest child, on her deathbed, indicated that there was a child involved in his leaving the family. All those who would know or could help in this search are passed on, we are trying to fill in this piece of the puzzle. The "child" would be near 80 years old, born between late 1927 and early 1929, possibly in Polk, Monroe or Marion counties. There may have been an adoption. Any information would be helpful.
