7 May 1996MAPLETON, Iowa -- Opal Bertha Oregon, 98, of Mapleton died Sunday, May 5, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Oto. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. by St. Mary's Guild and a vigil wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mrs. Oregon was born Sept. 14, 1897, in Cabool, Mo., (Texas County), the daughter of Barney and Josie (O'Connell) Green. She moved to Oto at the age of 3, where she grew up and attended school.
